Mark Thompson grew up locally and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in biology from James Madison University. He started breweries in Portland and Denver before coming home to found Starr Hill Brewery in 1999. Mark is considered to be one of the founders of craft beer in Virginia and brings his passions to the beers at Brewing Tree.

Gina Thompson grew up in Virginia Beach and is a graduate from Johnson & Wales University with a culinary arts degree.
Her accomplishments include being a Sommelier certified by The Court of Master Sommeliers, personal chef, caterer, and restaurant chef. She brings her talents and passion for food to Scratch Kitchen where everything is made from scratch.
