Worth the drive out.
Brewing Tree sits at the foot of the Blue Ridge on Route 151, where Nelson County meets Albemarle — about 35 minutes west of Charlottesville, 20 from Waynesboro or Crozet. Five riverside acres, and the drive there is half the reason to come.
How far is it?
We're at 9278 Rockfish Valley Hwy, Afton, VA 22920 — on Rockfish Valley Highway, the stretch of Route 151 locals call the Nelson 151.
Approximate driving times in normal conditions. The last few miles are two-lane and worth taking slowly — this is the pretty part.
Coming from Charlottesville
Head west on I-64 or take Route 250 over Afton Mountain, then south onto 151. Either way you come down out of the mountains into the Rockfish Valley, and the last stretch runs past orchards and vineyards. It's a half-hour that doesn't feel like a commute.
Plenty of free parking on site. No reservation needed for a regular visit — walk in, grab a table in the beer garden or a chair by the river.

Making a day of it
Route 151 runs the length of the Rockfish Valley through Nelson County, and Brewing Tree is one stop on it. The road is lined with breweries, cideries, and vineyards, with Wintergreen up the mountain and the Blue Ridge Parkway and Appalachian Trail crossing at Afton Mountain just north of us.
Most people who drive out from Charlottesville, Waynesboro, or Crozet make an afternoon of it rather than a single stop — and we'd rather you did. We're open Wednesday through Sunday; check the hours before you set out, especially early in the week.
